The ART-285 is the
colour version of the Art-285.
The Sony ICX285AQ offers fantastic
performance both in terms of
sensitivity and extremely low dark
noise. Its a mega pixel
progressive scan device.
This means all the pixels can be
read out in one go which removes the
need to interlace the separate
fields that other CCDs
require. The CCD has primary
colour filters on the CCD.
These allow arguably better better
colour rendition than complementary
filters but do reduce the
sensitivity of the CCD by about 2/3rds
compared with the mono version.
